Jordan announced on Monday its first swine flu-related death, that of a 26-year-old man who also had other infections, as the number of reported cases in the kingdom reached 850.
"The man suffered from tuberculosis and severe lung infections which weakened his immunity system," Health Minister Nayef Fayez told AFP.
"He was admitted to the Prince Hamzah hospital (in Amman) on Sunday and tested positive for swine flu. He died later at night."
The minister said the number of reported cases of the A(H1N1) virus has risen to 850, including over 200 children.
Globally, at least 4,525 people have died from swine flu infections since the A(H1N1) virus was uncovered in April, the World Health Organisation said on Friday.
